I've set up this blog for the houseboat owners who lost their houseboat in the Halls Crossing fire, to communicate with one another, and to post and receive updated information as it comes available.

  2. Thanks for starting this Brad. It will be interesting to see where the investigation leads to. That post by a supposed employee blaming it on late working mechanics is interesting. Either way it's a big loss for all and hopefully this can get resolved quickly and to the satisfaction of the ownwers. Time to turn a new leaf on another houseboat! The old Playcraft has provided many years of enjoyment and now she's just a couple of burned pontoons! Looking forward to heading down next week to see what's left of her and where to go from here.

  4. Brad, Noonans (F1)here. Thank you for setting up the blog. I see from the deseret news comments that some of our friends that work at Hall's are trying to keep us informed. When you guys go down next Tuesday can you take some more pics and post them? Thanks again and Merry Christmas to all F Dockers.

  5. Noonan: Yes, I'll take plenty of pictures. I'm not sure how close I will be able to get to the houseboat remains and F dock, but I'll try my best.

  8. Thank you guys so much for setting this blog up! It is very hard to find information over the internet because it all says the same stuff. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you F dockers, we used to be in the D dock but last year moved our houseboat. We are sincerely sorry for your loss.

  9. Our boat was at F9 and I have not seen any pictures of what is left. Has anyone seen any pictures of boats in that area? Ours was the two story green Botel pontoon boat. Had many good days on that boat - very economical to run. Good engines and generator. Oh Well! Please send or post any pictures.

    Thanks

  11. I received a letter from Arnold and Arnold that has information on the location of the origin of the fire. Has anyone else received a similar letter?

  12. I haven't received a letter, but my insurance adjuster said that he has talked to Mr. Harris of Arnold and Arnold, who indicated that the origin of the fire is narrowed down to three boats. Does your letter indicate a slip number for the origin?

    Brad Stone

  13. Our letter does, but out of respect until it is verified, no numbers but it was in the center of the marina store side

  14. to Bob L, we have not gone down to the lake yet. We will go for the inspection time.

  16. My information is the same as Noonan, but like Pat I am not going to release that information until there is firm determination of the origin of the fire.

  17. One other thing in the letter is that there is a joint inspection scheduled for Jan 27 at 9:00AM for all owners or their representatives. I plan on being there for this inspection. Hopefully there will be people there to answer questions.

  18. I talked to Will at Hall's yesterday and he may ask for the meeting to be at 10:00 instead of 9:00 to accomodate those comiong across on the ferry from Bullfrog.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I hope Will gets it changed to 10:00. That way I won't have to leave my house until 6:30 to make the meeting.

  20. Easy for you to say. Those of us in Salt Lake are going to have to come down the night before.

  21. I will call Amy about a break family units at Bullfrog for the 26th. I would hope they can accommodate us since the hotel is closed for the winter.

  22. I just received my letter. Although the investigation is not completed, it indicates that the likely origin of the fire with one of three vessels that were moored on the north side of the F dock. It also announces a meeting on Jan 27th, at 9:00 AM for a joint inspection for boat owners, their insurance representatives and any experts (such as fire cause and origin experts) to inspect the site and the vessels damaged in the fire. It also informs boat owners of their responsibility for their own vessel, to make arrangements for your vessel, if necessary, to be refloated and/or removed from the site and stored and preserved as evidence in an unaltered condition so as to be available for inspection at a later time. I'll be checking with our insurance, as I believe they will take the responsibility to salvage and preserve the boat.

See you all on the 27th.

  23. See you all on the 27th as well. Talked with Bill Arnold today and the meeting itself will be at 10:00 am with sign in at 9:00 am so if you are going to take the ferry from Bullfrog, you should be ok, providing the Ferry is running at that time during the winter.

  24. I assume that the sign in will be at the Halls Marina office.

    See you on the 27th.

  29. We are getting into the he said she said of the fire. Those of us that are boat owners or representatives of owners received a letter that said that the fire started on boats in certain slips. Now we are hearing that maybe a boat that is at the bottom of the lake was the origin of the fire. From pictures that I have seen and other reports, it appears that the boats on either side of mine are missing in action. Are they at the bottom or some place else.

We will see on the 27th.

Regardless of all of this speculation, what is fact is that Aramark did not provide a secure and safe environment for our boats. We paid our slip fees in good faith thinking that we were safe from harm. It is apparent (at least to me) that regardless of the people on site at the time of the fire, that Aramark was ill-prepared to combat an instance like occurred on F Dock.

  30. This is not about our friends at Halls Crossing Marina that work for Aramark that we have dealt with in the past. This is about Aramark the corporation and their focus on profit versus a focus on customer satisfaction.

How many upgrades or fixes have you seen on F
Dock versus the improvements around the marina store? Not many. Why? Because we pay are monthly fees and they put it in the bank. As opposed to the money they take in from those that come just for a long weekend.

We pay the bills and the weekenders provide the profit.

I am ranting, but that is because I have seen this too many times.

  31. I guess our insurance company attorneys will battle out the finger pointing in court.

    ReplyDelete
  32. In the new set of photos, my boat (or what is left of it) is the one closest to the shore in the second photo. The first photo of the slips is F21 in the center with F23 (end tie) to the right and just a portion of F19 (my slip)on the left. Parrot Eyes was in F23, and there was a Chris Craft Yacht Home in F21.

  33. Dick:

Kind of sad to see your boat like that.

  34. With the meeting just one week away has anyone heard if the official start time is now 10:00am and not 9:00am?

I am making my travel plans based on a 10:00am start.

  35. This is a terrible deal. Does anyone know the fate of "Knot-2-Worry" F-16. I was a part owner for years but sold a while back and just want to know. I'll always have a soft spot for the old gal.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I don't know for sure about F-16. We've been told that most, if not all, the boats on the south side of the dock (even number slips) were saved. Supposedly the fire started on the on the north side (odd number slips), and most of those boats were a total loss.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Dick, sign in is at 9:00 am with meeting around 10:00 am, per Bill Arnold and my conversation last week. Fran

Based on the weather I may need a cap full or two of Jamisons to stay warm.

  39. Just an FYI when one of our partners contacted Aramark regarding the future use of our slip on D dock they said that it will most likely not be available until Late summer or early fall due to them needing to find slips for those boats that did survive.
